Murder Trial Delayed Because of Jury Illness

Robert Stewart’s murder trial is put on hold because several jurors reported to be ill. Stewart (47) admitted to shooting and killing multiple people on March 29, 2009 at the Pinelake Health and Rehabilitation Center in Carthage.

Stewart faces eight counts of first-degree murder. He killed seven elderly patients and one nurse and injured three others, including the Carthage officer who shot Stewart in the chest.

Stewart’s defense attorneys claim he was prescribed too many antidepressants and sleeping pills and has no recollection of the killing spree. Prosecutors are seeking the death penalty.
